Batangas-based company D&L Industries Inc., the Philippines’ leading producer of specialty food ingredients and oleochemicals, owned by the Lao Family, has achieved a gold leadership certification in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) from Barone International.
According to Barone International, D&L Industries Inc. earned a total of 60 points out of a maximum of 80, demonstrating compliance with prerequisites addressing carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health, and indoor environmental quality across its various features.
Moreover, this gold rating represents the second-highest level of distinction under LEED, globally acknowledged for its sustainability accomplishments and facilitation of green building excellence by providing a framework for creating healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving structures.
“Right at the very beginning, it was our intention to have sustainability at the core of our new plant in Batangas,” said D&L President and CEO Alvin Lao.
“And true to our advocacy, we wanted to keep the carbon footprint of the operations to a minimum by designing an efficient and sustainable facility,” he added.
Lao also emphasized that their new plant in Batangas is a next-generation facility that embodies their commitment to creating a truly sustainable future. They are proud and excited to further offer sustainable, natural, and organic products manufactured by a Filipino-owned, world-class facility. | J.A Idanan, B.Channel News
