In celebration of the 2nd Charter Anniversary of Batangas State University as the ‘National Engineering University,’ BSU President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Chairmaine Rose L. Triviño, Vice President for Administration and Finance Atty. Luzviminda C. Rosales, and other administration officials, faculty association officers, BSU employees, alumni, and students from 11 BSU campuses, formally gathered at the Gov. Feliciano ‘Sonoy’ Leviste Memorial Multi-Purpose Gymnasium on Thursday, April 11.
The theme of the celebration, ‘Engineering the Future: Celebrating Batangas State University’s Commitment to National Development,’ highlights the university’s dedication to national development and its significant milestones as the only state university in the Philippines with eight engineering programs accredited by the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology – Computing Accreditation Commission (ABET-CAC).
BSU President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo graced the event and delivered an inspirational message in his 2024 State of the National Engineering University Address.
Ronquillo emphasized the NEU’s mission and vision, as well as its achievements from 1903 to 2024, noting the university’s recognition in the list of top 100 global innovative universities.
“So, I say with pride and confidence, which should be shared by all of us, that the state of our university is strong. The National Engineering University is well into its journey. The NEU is on the move, and it is thriving in many ways,” Ronquillo said.
As the National Engineering University continues its journey to lead innovations, transform lives, and build the nation, President Ronquillo also shared the university’s plans for the future. These plans primarily focus on maintaining prudent management, investing in campus development, and launching strategic new programs in research, academic excellence, and internationalization. He also emphasized the pursuit of their project proposal for KIST park, which is expected to be operational by 2027.
Additionally, several faculty members, alumni, and students expressed immense pride in the university’s accomplishments and its potential for further achievements.
“It is gratifying to be part of and witness this personally, especially when he mentioned the milestones and benchmarks of various campuses, as well as the plans and other innovative projects. We can see that BSU is leading and excelling,” said Trisha Elaine A. Robles, a 2nd-year financial management student and member of the Focus BatStateU Camera Club, in an interview with Balisong Channel News Team.
Dr. Richard Bañez, Head of Research at JPLPC Malvar Campus, also noted that the university’s current administration is well-organized and has a clear direction, as the president mentioned in the State of the NEU Address.
“The university’s progress in infrastructure, technology, teaching, and learning is remarkably fast. One could also say it is world-class,” Bañez said in an interview with Balisong Channel News Team. | J.A. Idanan, B.Channel News
