The Batangas State University Integrated School (BatStateU-IS) Robotics Team brought home multiple awards in various categories at the recently concluded 24th Philippine Robotics Olympiad (PRO), held in two events – July 21-22 at SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City and August 16 at Dr. Yanga’s Colleges, Bocaue, Bulacan.
With the theme “The Future of Robots,” over 80 schools from across the country gathered to explore how robotics can help address global challenges.
In the Future Innovators category, BatStateU-IS claimed victory in both the Senior High and Elementary divisions. The Senior High champions were Apoll Marc Venedict A. Hernandez, Edwin G. Macuha Jr., and Sherwin Vien Hienzo G. Melo, while James Rowie B. Bonifacio, Aaron Joseph S. Guno, and Jaremiah Skye A. Lameg triumphed in the Elementary category.
Meanwhile, the Junior High team took home the 2nd place trophy, led by Andrhia Joy P. Perez, Zac Angelo C. Leyco, and Gracie Clare B. Benedicto. In the Future Engineers category, John Angelo M. Bautista, Airvin James L. Medina, and Cshenizylle Nicole M. Ligayada clinched 1st place.
In the RoboSports category, Team A (Rowlen Mathew A. Guia, Micah Loreen A. Macatangay, and Gerald M. Coliat) emerged victorious in the Double Tennis event, while Team B (Light Gabriel M. Bandayrel, Norjeehan A. H. Nasser, and Joseph Bernard A. Maala) secured 2nd place.
The BatStateU-IS team also performed admirably in the RoboMission category, where Senior High Team A finished 2nd place, Team B took 3rd place, and the Junior High team ranked 4th place.
The success of the teams was attributed to the guidance of their coaches: Ms. Jeniffer M. Makalintal, Mr. Eugene E. Mendoza, Mr. Jomari B. Montalbo, and Mr. Luis Philip M. Oropesa.
As a result of their outstanding performance, the BatStateU-IS Robotics Team will represent the Philippines in the World Robot Olympiad Asia Pacific Championship in September, and later compete in the World Robot Olympiad International Finals in Singapore in November 2025. | via BChannel NEWS
