Tuluyang winasak ng Bureau of Customs o BOC ang mahigit ₱1.4 billion worth of illicit vape products, na tinawag na pinakamalaking single-operation seizure ng smuggled vape products sa kasaysayan ng ahensya.
Umabot sa ₱1.428 billion ang estimated value ng mga nakumpiskang produkto na binubuo ng 3,174 boxes ng vape devices at pods mula sa mga brand na Chillax, Black Bar at Shift. Wala ring visible Bureau of Internal Revenue o BIR tax stamps ang mga ito.
Nakumpiska ang shipment noong March 2026 sa isang warehouse sa Manila, matapos ang intelligence information at joint operation ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-MICP at Philippine Coast Guard o PCG.
Sumailalim ang shipment sa 100 percent physical examination at inventory bago isinailalim sa seizure proceedings. Naglabas din ang MICP ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention at Forfeiture Order sa ilalim ni District Collector Atty. Geoffrey K. De Vera IV.
Noong Thursday, isinagawa ang final condemnation at destruction ng mga produkto.
Para matiyak na hindi na ito mare-recover, maibenta o magamit, dinurog ang mga vape gamit ang roller compactor at pagkatapos ay binuhusan ng tubig.
Ayon kay DOF Assistant Secretary Dakila Elteen M. Napao, mahalaga ang operasyon sa pagprotekta sa publiko, government revenues at patas na competition sa negosyo.
Sinabi naman ni Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno na hindi lang taxes at duties ang usapin, dahil ang mga puslit na vape ay hindi dumaan sa tamang pagsusuri at regulasyon at maaaring may health risks.
