Batangas State University, The National Engineering University, formally opened the 7th International Research Conference on Innovations in Engineering, Science, and Technology (IRCIEST) on October 22 at the Narra Hall, Pablo Borbon Campus in Batangas City.

The event gathered participants from various colleges and universities across the country, along with delegates from different parts of the world, including distinguished guests, academicians, innovators, researchers, and representatives from government agencies and industry partners in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The three-day conference, which runs from October 22 to 24, 2025, aims to promote research and innovation in the fields of science, engineering, and technology.
The opening program was led by University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, together with Engr. Albertson D. Amante, Conference Chair and Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Services of the university.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Ronquillo emphasized that IRCIEST serves as a significant platform that connects impactful research and innovation to communities and industries.
According to him, “Twelve years after the first IRCIEST in 2013, it has now grown into a broader platform for progress and for addressing the challenges of the modern era.”

Meanwhile, Engr. Amante recognized the participating institutions and researchers from both local and international sectors, highlighting that the conference is a testament to the unity of scholars and experts in advancing research and technology.

The opening also featured a keynote address by Dr. Muhammad Qasim Rana from the University of the Built Environment in the United Kingdom, who discussed the topic “Redesigning the Future: Transformative Research in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Dr. Rana underscored the crucial role of Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and digital technologies in shaping the future — including the use of generative design in manufacturing, architecture, and construction, as well as the application of LIDAR technology in studying the built environment.
In his message, Dr. Rana challenged the researchers to prepare for the rapid changes brought by modern technology. He asked, “Are we ready for the challenges and opportunities posed by Artificial Intelligence?”

The IRCIEST is a biennial international conference organized by Batangas State University, bringing together academics, professionals, and students to share new discoveries and innovations in engineering, science, and technology.

Beyond knowledge sharing, the conference also seeks to expand research networks and create new opportunities for collaboration and future research. | via JMP, BChannel news | 📸 M. Bunquin
