Taylor Swift has just finished her “The Eras Tour Australia” concerts in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. Unexpectedly, while celebrating the successful conclusion of the tour, her father was reported to have assaulted an Australian paparazzi in the early morning of today (27th).
The Australian police also confirmed the news, saying that they had received the report and were investigating.
According to Reuters and other reports, Taylor Swift’s 71-year-old father, Scott Swift, was accused of assaulting an Australian photographer after his daughter ended her Australian tour.
New South Wales police confirmed the news, saying that Scott was accused of attacking Ben McDonald, the 51-year-old CEO of Matrix Media Group, at the ferry terminal on Sydney’s North Shore at around 2:30 a.m. on the 27th.
McDonald revealed in an interview that Taylor Swift and her father Scott were celebrating the end of their Australian tour and he was tracking them. After the two stepped off the luxurious superyacht, Taylor’s entourage began to push him with an umbrella.
Scott also rushed towards him and hit him on the left side of his face. McDonald claimed he did nothing to anger Scott, but “for some reason, he probably felt the need to protect his daughter.” McDonough also pointed out that in 23 years, he had never seen anything like this.
On the other hand, Taylor’s spokesperson pointed out that at that time, two people violently pushed and approached Taylor, grabbed her security personnel, and threatened to throw a female employee into the water. But McDonough said “this is a complete lie.”
A spokesman for New South Wales Police said an investigation into the case was ongoing.
It remains unclear whether this incident will affect Taylor’s departure from Australia as she prepares for her concert in Singapore on March 2.
