According to a report by Nikkei on Monday (26th), the Japanese gaming giant Nintendo will launch a new generation of the Switch as soon as March 2025.
However, the launch time is later than previously expected by market observers by the end of this year to avoid potential hardware component supply issues.
The “Nikkei” report pointed out that most market observers predict that the new generation of the Switch will be launched within this year. But, Nintendo has prioritized simplifying the initial sales inventory of the game console and giving game developers more time to create popular games in order to avoid widespread resale.
There are also reports that Nintendo has delayed the launch of the new generation of the Switch to prepare more powerful first-party software for the console.
In addition, Nintendo will expand new machine sales by combining its own popular IP such as game characters and movies. As for the console, the new generation Switch may have a handheld mode similar to the previous generation, but the screen will be larger than the 6.2-inch screen of the first generation.
A Nintendo spokesperson declined to comment on the reports.
