BATANGAS CITY, PHILIPPINES – Batangas State University (BatStateU), The National Engineering University – Alangilan Campus, through its Center for Innovation in Engineering Education (CIEE), proudly announces its innovative three-day celebration of World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2026, taking place from March 4 to 6, 2026, at the BatStateU Alangilan Campus and KIST Park.
Aligning with the global UNESCO-WFEO theme, “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalisation,” BatStateU has adopted the local theme, “Engineering Smart Systems for a Sustainable Future”. This local theme highlights the University’s commitment to creating interconnected, interdisciplinary systems that solve real-world community challenges, recognizing that technology, design, and sustainability must work together.
The three-day event will showcase the vital role of engineers in building a safer, more sustainable, and inclusive future. It serves as a dynamic ecosystem, bringing together students, faculty, industry leaders, and partners to engage with ideas and innovations grounded in actual community needs.
The program opens on March 4, with theGAD Women’s Biking Parade, a unity parade for National Women’s Month that highlights the growing role of women in STEM. Students will also compete in the Hack4 Tomorrow: STEER Hub Hackathon, presenting innovative sustainability solutions, alongside the inter-department debate competition DiskuSSCion, which focuses on issues related to engineering, sustainability, technology, and society. Youth-focused events such as STEM-A-THON v3.0 and the ASCEND 2026 Amazing Race Challenge will also energize senior high school participants.
Ultimately, the celebration reaffirms BatStateU The NEU’s leadership in engineering education and innovation. By bringing together technology, creativity, and social responsibility, the University emphasizes that modern engineering extends beyond physical infrastructure—shaping intelligent, sustainable systems that uplift communities and create lasting impact. | #PR
