Facebook users experienced a scary night yesterday.
Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, the social platforms owned by the technology company Meta, suffered global outages last night due to technical issues.
At around 11 pm Philippine time last night, more than 300,000 Facebook users and about 40,000 Instagram users reported the outage.
At the peak of the outage, Facebook even received more than 550,000 outage reports and Instagram received about 92,000 outage reports.
Hundreds of thousands of users were affected, but after more than two hours of repairs, it has now returned to normal.
Because of this incident, Meta’s stock price fell 1.5%. The White House National Security Council has also expressed close concern about this, but it is unclear whether it is related to specific malicious network activities.
